Peak-to-Average Power Ratio Reduction of Carrier-Suppressed Optical SSB Modulation: Performance Comparison of Three Methods

We compare the performances of three previously proposed methods to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) carrier-suppressed optical single-sideband (OSSB-SC) signal. PAPR OSSB-SC signal becomes high due peaky Hilbert-transformed which is used for spectral suppression. Nonlinear phase shifts induced by degrade during fiber transmission. Previously, we peak folding, clipping, and high-pass Hilbert transform modulation. In this study, numerically effectiveness in a 10 Gbit/s non-return-to-zero (NRZ)-coded 100-km single-channel transmission link. Due reduced PAPR, folding clipping can increase self-phase modulation (SPM) threshold studied system 2.40 dB 2.63 respectively. The method improves SPM more than 9 dB.
